I’m thinking about growing autos for a change from fem. Can anyone send me a link on best way to read them & how many in a 4 X4 tent. One more ? Can you put fem in there as well if they’re in veg?
Welcome to the portal Laura. I have grown autos twice so I am no expert but would not recommend growing photos in the same tent, total pain in the ass. Every strain is different so I don't think there is a broad brush stroke way of reading them other than autos tend not to like heavy doses of nutrients. Personally I would only do 2 in a 4x4 but I like spreading my plants out. I am interested in hearing what others say. Again, welcome!
Several of us are from or in Texas. I grew jock Horror autos. I never really measure my yeald but I was definitely a good harvest. If I can find a picture of it I will add it to this post.
So i can assume youve had successful grows using fem photoperiod plants? for a decent grower, 2 ounces per plant should not be hard to get from 4 plants. So a half pound is not a problem. Try not to put the cart before the horse if you know what i mean.
what strain do you plan to grow? what is your growing experience? what kinda lights? what kind of nutrients? soil or hydro?
4 me growing that many plants is a huge pain n the ass watering and keeping up with all those plants but then again i am old as dirt so i keep it simple 4 at the most .... i have eight clones now don't know what i will do with all of those .... i may give a few away ...
Growweedeasy.com has some good info. I have grown them with photoperiods and finished them under 12/12 light with no problems. I dont think the DLI is any different for photos and autos, and so far I havnt seen anything to the contrary. Bill Ward has several videos autoflowers on Utube that are pretty good. A grower on here recommended topping at about 3 weeks to extend veg a little longer, it works for me and in hydro the end of the stretch is called harvest becasue they never stop growing.
Personally I hate autos, and I admit they are improving. everyone should learn the hardway, Its like peeing on an electic fence, you never forget but every so often you try again just for fun
I grow autos, (soil)or (coco) . If you are wanting to grow a huge yield stick with photos. lol I can suggest Dr.Autoflower on YouTube. Remember time is not on your side with Autos. I have topped them @ 3 weeks and have seen no huge increase in yield. IMO LST is a must if you want a better yield. These babies love to produce leaves and if you don't spread them out light can't get to the flower sites. It seems like when you trim her she grows another leaf the next day. lol
Stress Do not stress her to much . You try to push her limits and you will have a train wreck on your hands. Easy does it imo. Once again time is not on your side to recover and produce a decent yield. Be careful not to light stress them either. Dr.Autoflower has a good video on this. I have one finishing up now and it is growing under 585μmol (par). Heat is another big one. This grow I did my temps different , Before my temps were 85 f day and 81f @ night. This run was 78fday and 68fnight. I saw a big difference in the quality of the plant. I will not go back to what I was doing before(with this strain anyway. My range suggestion would be 81f to 67f (day:night) jmo RH this grow was 60% in seedling,50% in veg and early flower and mid to late flower 45%
I would grow in 5 gal pots max and 2gal pot minimum. I have done both The two differences being how much I like to water and how many I want to grow.
They can and will be temperamental. lol I would grow 4 -5gallon pots or 8- 2gallon pots
Totally agree and experienced the same results with that day/night temp. Use to think my tent was in the low 80s in the day, but then hung my thermometer at the canopy and it was high 80s almost 90. Bit the bullet and finally turned on the wall unit that i had installed in the grow room for controlling the temp in the first place and viola. Got the temps down to 79 during the day and like 68-9 at night. The best grow I ever had, straight up fire, the buds were super dense, like I use to think those people that had those moon rock buds were using a press, na, they just got their environment dialed in. Waiting on this next run to see if the temp thing holds true. I'll know because the strain I am running I have run with whacked temps. I ran some auto's and they hermed, now i'm thinking it was because of the temps for sure, I know I don't have light leaks. So yea take care with temps on auto's, at least from my limited experience. Good luck and stay lifted.
dang awful flowers we want hold that against u welcome 2 the wp Laurap53 i tied 2 grow them a few times and they beat me up pretty bad dang awful flowers

Thanks for welcome. I’m a Texas girl as well. If you don’t mind may I ask what you yield & the strain?

May I ask your yield & strain?

in general i say you can fit 4 small to medium plants in a 4x4
I'd would have to agree with that...
Can you put fem in there as well if they’re in veg?
The answer to that question is yes...(veg)
yes a lot of folks stick an auto plant in with their reg fems photo's cos their auro's lol
L
So in a 4x4 tent how many would be sufficient for a decent harvest? Could a half lb be to much too ask for?
There’s a lot of things that would have influence to what ur taking about man.
From what I can think of theres
I can’t think of anything else right off but maybe someone else will chime in.

Many thanks!
Hi welcome to th P.
Autos are weird
My 2 GSC autos are 7w and the Northern lights is 8w.
3x3 tents, silly me thought I could put all 3 in one phfft. Good thing I had a second setup available
Oh look! (he's using a net)
i would personally grow 16 to 25 plants in SOG in a 4x4 (growing 8 plants in a 2x3 actually)
and yes even if not ideal you can mix auto and photoperiod while they are in veg it's also possible to grow an auto under 12/12

In a 4X4 tent I would grow 4 plants. IMO autos would do just fine!
