i had pretty similar result with hps depending strain and phenos. just much more issue with heat especially in summer.
The gnats came with the clones and I never got them down to zero but watering from the bottom helped a lot. I must have smoked a bunch of them since they got stuck to the sticky buds. Havent had them since.
Been my experience but I believe I have more consistent harvest with the LEDs heat was a big problem with HIDs not to mention very uneven light distribution in tent.LED took care of those 2 things quick only way I go back is if my LED goes out on me LMAO
Way to stick it out IBWEN.We all learn more from our mistakes to hang out triumphs.Knats are a pain in the arse lol
My second grow, in 2016 I built a 4 m2 nursery room and a 2 m2 flowering room. This post is mostly a note to myself.

replaced my 250W HPS with spiderfarmer SF2000 200W, greatly improved the issues i had with heat.
Venus Fly Trap from Nirvana clones, 200w CFL. Hastily set up , zero knowledge. The plants grew over the light, it was a mess and fungus gnats everywhere. 50 g total
Blueman I used a HID system in both of my tents still have a 1000 watt setup boxed up in my bedroom. Was going to gift it to someone but no one was interested so it went to storage
I started out with CFL, 200w or something. It was shit, a waste of money, and stopped working in the middle of flowering which made me panick. I hastily bought 4 second hand HIDs so that I would never run out of light again. Still have them taking up space.
Last year I bought a proper LED lamp suitable for my tent and I have used it for sprouting, vegging and flowering. By far the most convenient solution for me.
I use a Spider farmer SF5000 and an HLG260 in my big flower tent and a T5 for veg. But ive used LEDs from the start
King used to be a big HID fan and made the switch to HLG and hes a huge fan. If he were here he could tell you, but he is taking a little hiatus
What are you fine gents using for light these days? HID, LED, CFL, etc. How do you use, seedling, veg, and flower. Thank you. I have heard led is the best bang for the buck, Temperature is less of a problem, and better results. Opinions.?
Do you save a lot for buying two? Maybe take one for a test drive and if you like it get another, or let the usd keep inflating and pay even more by the time you give the 1st one a good test looks good to me. what does the interweb say I'm mean on non sponsored reviews.

To me that sounds like an optimal/upper limit to what we can get from that size of light and the available space.
