Is there a seed chart out there?

Like what to expect when one female hermies out and pollinate the other. Will that seed be a guaranteed female like both of its parents? Or will it have some hermaphrodite tendencies?

Two autos make an auto but what does a photo and and auto make?

Or a reg female and an auto? What will that seed be?

If you ask these questions in a Facebook group every newbie thats had one successful harvest after over watering for 2 months thinks they have the answer. You'll get every answer 4 times.

So I was wondering if there was a chart or some kind of guide as what to expect.

    • I have not ever seen a guide but I can tell what I know on the subject.

1.Was the hermie plants you talked about. They will be female because there was not a true male in the mix meaning the seeds have no Y chromosome.

The reason most breeders use a chemical to make feminized seeds is because the seeds or offspring are unlikely to encounter the chemical again eliminating the chance for a hermie in the next batch.

let's say heat caused the plant to hermie, you got the seed from the plant, planted it again in the same environment and did not improve the growing conditions an it was really hot like before. The seeds you planted would be less tolerant to heat stress than the parents were and most likely hermie.

      2. The gene for autoflowering is a recessive trait so when you cross a photo with one you'll have what some breeders sell as a fast version. when you take 2 plants from a population of a fast version strain you'll end up with about 25% of the plants autoflowering in the next population, you can then cross 2 of the autos in that batch to make a true auto strain but its not always this simple.

      3. Both photo plants & auto plants can be regular this means you'll get male & female plants. I done explained above what happens when you cross a photoperiod to an auto plant.

      4. breeding is a game of dominance meaning the more stable the strain is, the stronger the influence it'll have on the cross & what order you chose to meaning if you try to make a cross like blue cheese and use blueberry for the mom it will not be blue cheese.... it wont even smell like it, what it will be is cheeseberry and it'll be more blueberry dom kida like a blueberry skunk its got more tart berry notes than that sour darie cheese smell real blue cheese has.

        • The trouble with growing weed is there is a lot of bad info out there. Some of the old theory's on growing are about as helpful as Reefer Madness is to smoking it. The truth is weed is changing and improving all the time, so if you really want to know you should try it and see what happens. Personally I would not start with a seed from a hermi because you never know what will happen with them. Growing is a big investment in $, space and your time. For me I wont waste time over one seed when I can buy a good one for $10. By the time you know if it will hermi or not you have lost probably 8 weeks at the least and I some cash feeding it.  I have only had one plant hermi, it was a Northern Lights I tortured and it was still good smoke. I had 2 plants that made seeds and that was good smoke too. The seeds however were not.

Josh has good info above and you can pretty much take that to the bank, but I bet I can guess how he learned it.

          • Thanks Joshua!!! I really appreciate you taking the time. I sincerely thank you. It's rare that I get shown this level of kindness.

I'm growing Girl Scout Cookie next. You have any advice?

My room is 8x10x11(LxWxH). I have an Ac unit and an 8 inch finity exhaust system.

A humidifier and a dehumidifier  all of which is hooked up to inkbyrd controllers

            I have a Mars hydro ts3000 (450w) plus a 1000w MH/HPS for light.

Have been using FF nutrients. The 3 bottles foe veg and 3 cans of dried for flowering.

Have been using the 20on and 4 off light schedule. Have been using Promix HP for the media.

Any suggestions for me? And I can take the harsh brutal truth without getting butthurt. I'd much rather be told I'm fucking up and put on the right track.

            • Sounds like a great setup Shaine.  I used the same FF combo as you, the 3 liquids and 3 solubles.  Looks like you got the environment dialed in also.  Humid and dehuey.  Not knocking it, but when I saw the MH/HPS just wondering why no led or lec?  For sure gonna grow excellent bud, but imo is old tech (CP mentioned Reefer Madness).  Just my 2 cents (which is probably only worth 1 cent so take it with a grain of salt)  and like I said I'm not knocking MH/HPS.  Oh but my only suggestion keep your ph in check and everything should fall in place from there.  If not, most of the time nothing falls into place, just my experience and mistakes I made, along this incredible grow journey.  Good luck, and Happy growing.  Peace

              • Thanks brother. I welcome all advice and criticism. I take it all in and am thankful when someone takes the time to help. I really do appreciate it.

Sorry if I left out the Mars Hydro ts3000 when I was talking about my lights.

It's a 450w LED I use it as well as the mh and hps.

                  • I have not grown that strain yet but is on the list as the next Indica to grow, From what I have seen and heard on here and the popular opinion from locals I think it will be a great strain to smoke and a fairly easy one to grow. The size and density of the bud pictures I have seen I would feed the hell out of it and keep the air moving around them all the time so they never stop dancing. Let us know how it goes and dont forget the smoke report

                  • Do you mean your using the bud trio, Open Sesame, Beatie Bloomz and Cha Ching? They are great but if your growing in soil I would cut them to half strength if your not feeding anything else or 1/4 strength if your are  feeding anything eles.

                    • Haha, there it is.  I damn near killed my first grow using FF nutes and their feed chart.  Cut them in half on the dosage chart till they get good size, then work your way up till you get closer to full strength.  Thanks for letting that one out CPW
