Need help

Okay since most of my harvest will have to go to trash. I’m going to try auto, outside! Daily almanac says 81 days till winter. Still in high 80’s here most days. Have on more than one year been wearing shorts and tee shirts Christmas. I actually had purchased some auto seeds from Nirvana (didn’t really remember why) but I did. Waiting on couple to pop. Actually put it in the chicken incubator hoping it will rush it along.
QUESTION:

never grew autos! What do I need to feed them, how often. What else do I need to know to make this a good adventure? Any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!

    • Honestly they are pretty much the same as photos as far as nutrients but in my experience they require less. Just let them do their thing. You should be fine.

      • I could be very wrong about this but I think Autos need more intense light than photoperiods do, I think that is why my outside Auto's have never done well. I have a lot of trees that block light where I am now.

        • I think I see a tent in your future because you have the growing jones big time and I am thinking since you already popped seeds you already plan to try so now your really just looking for a little positive reinforcement. That's awesome, you got this so go for it but look at tents & LED's even cardboard boxes and CFL's  beats not growing at all. LOL. We all lost weed to bud rot this year so I would hate to see you lose another plant to frost.

          • You already know me so well. Your correct I’ve got a purple thumb but I have the grow bug bad! I do want to grow inside and see it in my future but going to start looking into tents or small greenhouse. Also correct I might lose the autos too but never know until you try. Been reading growweedeasy.com learning a lot there. Appreciate all the help and encouragement

              • Your right on the frost! Weather has been crazy this year. I’m use to carrying water not pumping it out! Going to be reading more on growweedeasy.com. I’ve been using it periodically for information but not reading chapters at a time. Also going to start buying up stuff for a greenhouse and inside grow. Might be year or two before I can do inside but might as well be stocking up on what I might need. Appreciate all the help and encouragement

                • Why not what do you have to lose ,it’ll cheer you up ,keep you busy

I grew autoflowers for the first time this year June 21 they came out the ground started  inside for 4 weeks then put outside it still took me 15 weeks will be harvesting in the next few days I think it took so long because of all the none sunny days

                  So keep that in mind

                      • I dont think its about calendar days I think its more about how many rays they collect over a time frame. Growing Autos indoors is like Microwave to Oven time compared to outdoor growing or so it seems.

Ok, I dont get the  2nd post at all

                      • in my opinion, its time to grow indoors. you get a year-round season and get to call all the shots. Youve already hinted at it and have lost a few to the outdoor elements. its time to come inside! smile

                          • I guess it depends on the situation....    I LOVE OD!!!  Can’t even explain the feeling you get when you see it jumping leaps and bounds. And it’s towering over your head and you can’t tell no one 🤫  FREE LIGHT!!  Oh yea.......  the harvest amount.....   can’t beat to.   HOWEVER, CUZ OF Y’ALL!!!!... ...  lol.   I’ll be firing up my ID  this winter  maybe.... just to try out my new light.     I’ve got a bit to learn there.

                            • @NanaP   While your waiting...  and I commend you for trying to get in a 2nd grow since you lost yours.  The auto growers here should be a lotta help to you .   I would go out to GWE and suck up what’re information you can find on autos in general and Autos OD.  Best to go in head on with As much information as you can.   😊

                              • Indoor and outdoor growing are different so I think mastering them both is what we should be going for if your into it. I think the risks of both are why Farmers say don't put all your eggs in one basket. I enjoy growing indoors in the winter and I think the lights and greenery help fight off depression however battling heat and humidity indoors in the summer can be stressful and nobody grows weed to great stress. Its also really cool to come home and be greeted some 7-8 ft tall plants, just dont forget to kiss the wife first, not the plants. I will continue to do both but I will specifically look for seeds that are mold resistant next year.

                                • Don’t know if I will live long enough to master both but I’m going to die trying! Got ton’s to learn. If anything, I’ve learned just from this site is I don’t know crap about growing cannabis! Been growing for years but don’t know crap! After seeing some of y’all’s harvest this year I definitely have lots to learn!!!! Appreciate the help!

                                  • Honestly I dont think anyone ever Masters anything, the real Masters are the ones that keep raising the bar and your heading that way.

                                  • Just like LED's, my first go round with OD has left me with mixed emotions.

So far, outta 5 plants, I'm gonna harvest most of 2. Two of the others don't look like they'll finish till Christmas, and the 5th just took a crap on me and never really thrived.

Between grower error, and Mother Nature, the odds were stacked against them this summer.

Luckily, I still have the ID going full tilt boogie, so my OD experiment was always a "bonus" grow.

                                    • I couldn't agree more, you nailed that one all the way around, and next year I will be out there with you again. Tomorrow I will be dry trimming my first plant from outside and I am really looking forward to comparing the smoke to the indoor hydro grown clones.

                                    • You have the seeds and the time. I'd try it. Regardless of frost, the earth still tilts and less direct sunlight could make your harvest a little later and a little lighter. I'd use 5g bags filled with strawberry fields.

                                      • I just noticed Strawberry Fields, is that new or just getting better marketing?

                                      • Now I need to look up Strawberry Fields
