Girl Scout cookie auto in soil week 10 from germination

Got some spots and some leaves yellowing on one side of the plant, other is green and no brown spots.  One prob I've learned recently is I have too little dirt in each bag, about 3 gallons per.  Fox farm soil and conditioner 60/40 mix, fox farm nutrients, cal mag, and pH each feeding.  I've been feeding twice a week and giving about a 1/3 gallon per plant, then watering w cal/mag PH water as needed between.  Light is 18" from tops and is a Kind XL 450 k2.  My buddy thinks they ran out of food and I should be feeding about .75 per plant 3 times a week.  Using the Fox Farm Calendar for soil grows for my feeding amounts.  Appreciate any feedback!

    • Might have multiple issues, I noticed that your yellowing was mainly at the top, so I thought either the lights were too close or too much potassium the leaves look like they are showing signs of k toxicity.

The soil PH on runoff is low but not as low as you might think I have done that test and even tested the soil as well as the PH and I remember reading that if you are testing runoff you should add a point so 5. would actually be 6.2 and although on the low side still within sweet spot of 6.2-6.8 and always a good idea to fluctuate the ph between those two ranges this allows the plant to pick up all nutrients needed and not just the ones in a particular range. I would be careful increasing the nitrogen at this stage of the plants cycle. Hope this helps ya Sarge

      • I suppose its the same reason you cant set your calendar to the predicted flowering time of an auto from the breeder. Those #'s are "suggested"

Thats why I usually grow in hydro and never use nutrients manufactured by companies that tell you over use their products. Your not the first to get fooled by this, its not like adding oil to your car.

Maybe someone else on here can help you with the FF line.

          • My GSC is in 3 gallons of Happy Frog with 1 gallon of Coco coir mixed in and she is 30 inches tall and will be a month old in 2 days (Aug.18th)

I have not feed her anything else and she's doing fine so far.

          • I flushed that plant w .75 gallon of 6.8 pH water.  Put some PVC pipe under the soft pot to let it drip out and let air circulate under it.  Going to give it a week before starting a light feeding schedule.  Hopefully this one will bounce back, it's been my favorite to watch grow.

            • Those charts don't mean to feed every week man it just tells you what to feed an how much to use depending on the age of the plant, you'll be giving pure water mostly but personally I wouldn't go no higher than 1.5 ec in hydro or 2.0 ec in soil it'll burn them up.

              • Some people will use pure peat or some will use pure coco so ud feed during the first 4 weeks but FF soil is good enough on its own for 4-5 weeks and the different amount per each week is because the plant is older and can take more at that age.

                  • No you dont, first you have to fix the problem or at least fix it as best you can. With the soil treatment you may not be able to fix it but flush and then water as needed for a week or 2 before you feed them anything and then only feed the bloom mix and cal/mag.

                  • My regiment is about every 3-4 days I give them cal-mag and liquid seaweed, then 3-4 days I feed them 1/4 strength then 3-4 days I give them supplements and stuff like early bloom. Then back to water and cal-mag I sometimes switch it up but this gives the plant time to break down the nutes and salts that build up in the soil. You can always add more.

                    • That's a great method!  I've been wondering what everyone does and doesn't do.

If it was on the calendar I mixed it in that gallon of water...looked like weak coffee!  Lol

Man, I've got a lot to learn!!!

                      Thank you for the tip!!

                      • It was tough for me to accept that following the instructions with nutrient mixes can be disastrously. It would be like Pennzoil telling you to add a quart more oil to your engine just to sell more oil. Less is certainly more when it comes to soil grows

                      • Dude looks to me like you might have a lockout condition.  Your leaves are showing multiple symptoms.  And by my understanding.  I think maybe your nute feedings are too light meaning volume wise.  You said your bags might be light about 3 gallons of 60/40 mix, but your feeding 1/3 of a gallon of nute solution?.  So I'm thinking you aren't getting any bit of run off, so the nutes just stay and stay and stay.    I grew and am growing Sour Diesel auto's in 3 gallon fabrics in coco.  And I don't even get any drip from bottom until after almost of a gallon of water has been put in.  Also at 10 weeks those buds should almost be finished.  I think your plants are starving.  I also use Fox Farms Big Bloom, Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, Open Sesame, Beastie Bloomz, and Cha ching.  Big another thing, I think your math is wrong.  So apparently there is a 1.8 diff in ph going in (8.8) and ph coming out 7.  So that means if you poured ph'd water which I think should be 6.2-6.8.  At the higher 6.8 and deduct the 1.8 your soil ph would only be like 5!   I also just noticed you said you flushed with .75 gallons of 6.8 water, I think your not using enough water man.  Sorry for the long winded answer. Good luck.
