What can we do to get Chat back?

Is there anything we can do to get chat back or activate PM? It kind of sucks and its limiting to have to make a post or a question when you want to find something out or just converse with a member. Most of us are not ok with making our email addresses public. Can you post the personal email addresses or phone #'s of the people that make these decisions? Of all the problems with this rev of the WP that is the #1 thing that needs to be fixed IMO

lmao i can't do anything about it except telling the person who made the decission and wait for his reply, as you can understand i can't just hand out his mail or #... i dont think he would appreciate that ;)

spoke to my direct boss and he said the cost of server maintenance for the chat are too high for the little it was used but he did promise he will look in the future (as we are busy with something else atm) to setup a new pm/chat somehow.

so it all boils down to money. it's not a cost effective to run chat but how do you make an ad free platform cost effective? put up ads like all the others. now up front Ill say that i hate ads. we are deluged with ads
all. the. time.
But if you toss a sidebar ad on here that was tasteful and not tracked or cookied to death it might be an acceptable thing if we can get the privacy of a chat channel back. we don't have to have the same ad model others have. something that we all find useful or might find useful, i could live with ads if they stayed here and somehow didn't follow me when I was online like other advertisements seem to.
Anyway just a thought some low non invasive ads might be a solution if money is the issue. perhaps if we generated sale of sorts they might be open to better features for the site?
i know i like coming here for the very fact it's ad free. this would be a huge concession since this idea was probably discussed once before and rejected because frankly no one likes ads all the time. shit just advertise Nirvana and take a portion of the ad budget. 😏
