Seedlings in general

I've been growing indoors for goin on 7 years now , but I always want to learn that one more thing , you know ? I start with the old paper towel method , then to the solo cups , then to 5 gallon air pots. Simple . I'd really like to get my veg space set up so , are these to young to transplant ? Also , would it benefit me now to get them out from under CFLs and under LEDs ?

    • As soon as it has true leaves, it makes energy from light.

CFLs are great for seedlings, because they're less likely to burn the plant. That way you can keep the light really close, for best intensity.

Don't forget a fan. Strengthen that stem up.

Personally, I'd transplant now, or soon. Once a plant takes off, the roots can fill a solo cup quickly.

      • Personally I would plant that girl in a 5 gallon cloth pot and start letting her get used to leds. I would bury the stem just under the leaves and let the plant start building a root system.

        • I would transplant it now or wait until it you see roots coming out of the cuts in the bottom of the cup, that's a good sign the roots have wrapped around the media and it will hold together through the transplant.

          • To me its a little too soon for LED's. it barely has mature leaf! let it soak up the T-5s or CFLs for 18-24 hours

              • I would go a little bit longer on your seedlings before going to full LEDs something like this maybe...https://1drv.ms/u/s!Akysup0onZ3Pkx2ak0u6DkNeaL30

                • I have found it better to let them get a little bigger before transplant for two reasons one the soil won’t fall apart when you transfer and also the roots can be dusted good with great white at that point

                  • All great advice Steveo ! Rbt has great advice ! T-5's will do for quite a while. Remember when you do switch to LED's they can burn a seedling pretty easily. Either tone it down or keep the seedling a couple feet away at first , or both.
