grow tent
I am new to growing and want to know can I grow in 4 by 4 tent with only lights and a couple of fans, no carbon filters no ducting?

Unless you buy some "all in one" package, you buy everything separately.
Only buy what you need/ want to use.

what kind of light will determine how hot it will get in there...

good point there. I have a 5x5 and a 4x4 in one dedicated grow room. I run the AC almost all day to keep the environment cool and the humidity down. Lots of fans help to keep moisture down. its not a big deal during veg but when you go to flowering your humidity and temps really matter!!

If you don't plan on using a carbon filter that's your choice but an extraction fan with a fan speed control is pretty important to remove excess humidity especially during flower time where high humidity can bring on bud rot. Along with that a small inline fan replacing the air that was removed by your extraction fan.
Lights? Save your money and do your homework cause there is a ton to choose from.
In a 4x4 tent properly set up you can grow up to 4 medium plants but your light needs to be good enough to penetrate Thru your canopy.

I am also new , seems to me that without venting you might develop mold or mildew .

for sure need extraction fan to keep fresh air in the tent, also to pull humidity out of the tent

u will need a carbon filter n flowering or u will smell up the whole house .....

oh and most equipment can be found for a song used. people are dumping equipment all the time for free. Just look on craigslist or what ever your favorite junk posting is and you will be sure to find everything.
let me back up and say this is a legal state. so people get a bunch of new equipment and after killing some plants with love, they decide it's not for them. and sell everything for less than half the cost. this is a boon to new growers if they are just getting started and find a savy friend to guide them😜
so check out the used stuff shops first very likely find filters and fan used 1/2 a season that need sanitizing for cheap, but look around some folk are selling it in the box still, having not gotten around to installing it yet.😄
