Growcraft X3 – 330W LED Grow Light

Well its here, assembled and in the 2X4 tent. I bought the DIY and did the assembly myself and saved a few bucks, took about an hour to assemble because I read, re-read and watched the video. The instructions could have been better but I think common sense prevailed. When I first hung it up and powered it up I couldn't wait to  measure the PPFD, but the best I could get was around 400ppfd I went and made sure I still had the boxes to ship this thing back, After about an hour I checked the PPFD again and what was 400 before was now at 1500 so I guess it takes them a while to burn in, duh. Now the PPFD is spot on the charts so I will see how it does. I guess I can use the SF2000 for a night light or something lol. Size matters, weird thing is the temp dropped a few degrees from the SF2000.

      • What a clean looking assembly. I hope it produces like you want. The lower temp already a plus imo.

        • I just ordered the two 3 X 500 lights on special so I will be out of the HID business soon. I will probably do a side X side (1000 W HID and 1000 W LED) grow this time from flower but I have high hopes.  I sure hope this is the right direction to go but I have laid the money down so we shall see.

          • Congrats on the lights! What are your thoughts on running higher ambient temps with LED? The idea is that LED rooms need to run warmer because LED doesn't put out much IR light. Warmer temps also need higher rh to keep vpd in range. Should mean a lot less electric costs for lighting and AC. Check this article. It talks about CO2 and lighting but scroll down to see the section about raising rooms temps with LEDs.

            • Thanks Bill, I will look into that, when this grow flips to flower I will probably keep one 1000W HID in there to do a side by side comparison grow with the 1000W LED's. I have 90 days to return these light so I will make it count.

            • I’d be questioning that company CPW, Theres only 295 led chips on each light for 295w and there adding 200w on that for the mean-well driver. Still good but not worth a 1000$ to me. Hell a Mars hydro ts3000 has more chips on it and a mean we’ll driver to.

                • Yep, but the reduction in my electric bill should cover it in a few months I hope. Running an AC in the basement in Jan was killing me

                  • I dont think the number of chips has as much to do with as the quality of the chips. I am going by the PPFD maps and you can see from the  Mars adds they dont really cover the area they claim. and believe me If I could have gotten a light that would do what I want for 1/2 the price I would have gone with it. I have a closet full of Mars lights I bought a little at a time and pissed away enough money on them I could have bought these and had change left over.
