Worms/Bud Rot

So…… I harvested rest of my plant and hung to dry. I trimmed fairly well before I hung. Last night was doing final trim and put in jars and I found two green worms deep in bud in cocoon. Never had bud rot before but it was spreading just like everyone said it would and when I tried cutting off just kind of gummed up and pulled off. Now I’m wondering if the worms caused all the damage or bud rot.
Harvested second plant yesterday with same symptoms, looks like bud rot too. These plants were probably 15/20 feet apart and I had not noticed the dark spots until last week. Wondering if I’m going to find worms on this one and I hat I should do to protect my youngest plant which is building its buds right now 😳

      • the rain causes the bud rot or a small worm can to sometimes but neither can be avoided the rain will just wash the spray you use off. Genetics and air flow helps the most outside but the real problem is telling people not every strain can be grown out side...... now these days there bread for indoor only unless you live in the perfect climate which i doubt anyone does there's always gonna be something happen.

        • I lose about 5% of my buds to rot each year . I plan for it and just accept it . It kills me a little every time but I just move on . 95% is a success for me . I have a large population of lizards and lady bugs that keep most little creatures controlled . Any way possible I don't use chemicals . Oh and tons of frogs also .

          • What up WP, In terms of genetics and bud rot, I recently read where many, if not all Indica cultivars, that originally came from mainly arid, and cool climates such as the Hindu Kush mountain range in northern Afghanistan, are predisposed to Bud Rot because .... Genetically, MANY cultivars we grow today have links to the early Indicas of this region, and when you take a plant that's been grown for hundreds of years in a mountainous, arid climate, and try growing it in the U.S. where the humidity if way up there, it makes sense that the plant might not like it !!  Bud Rot sets in, and you have big problems. I do what Starfish does and plan accordingly !
