do you Re-use your medium (soil) ?
one can spend much money on medium if you do 4 grows a year -- recently looking at re-using soil - when you think about it if worked properly can reduce cost and also give you kind of a super soil meaning many microbe's ect still in it -----thoughts was spending $200.00 a year for 4 runs with OceanBlend + HappyFrog ($50.00 a grow for both) now with coco gues you could "clean" it and re-use Thoughts

Said he would months ago. Would love to see one after all he is the OG on hear. Far as reusing soil I would rather buy new because the people who make it have spent the time money and effort in figuring out what works best I reuse my bags and it stops there with electric and soil I average $5-600 a run what I get in return is worth more than quadruple that so I'm ok with new bags although some sticker shock when I bought some perlite holly crap did that go up.

@ Rbt, add some dolomite when amending old media. @ Air, I reuse my media all the time. I have a base mix of coco, peat and perlite, to that I'll add 30% of new base media, after each use. Amending it has become a science. If you can test the old medium, that will give you a look into what it needs for the next grow. Never hurts to add bacteria and fungi too, I'm mainly organic though. I'll also send a soil sample in to Michigan State soil lab after every 4-5 times of use and amending. This will point out extreme deficiencies. Peace

My best tip is get one of those harbor freight cement mixers. I'm always recycling soil, adding perlite and nutes. The machine will pay for itself time and again.

I like SanBoisRedux's idea, personally I use a compost tumbler for mixing up and reusing my old soil but his idea would work great as well.

When you get older like me...he,he,he you look for things you can do that keep you physically fit. Mixing my mixes in a baby pool, with a shovel, is one of things I do. I'ts a good burn fosho !!
