    • I dont know but I have noticed some nutrient manufacturers have special mixes for RO water so its different enough they can exploit it.

        • I think there are other growers on here that use RO water so I would hang out and see what they have to say

        • I use RO and its basically like working with coco, It's a blank slate. I use 30 ppm water from 300-400ppm source.

GH nutes, and haven't had any problems. The water is stored so any chlorides tend to be  disappated then of course whatever any storage tank,  sitting, inviting has in it.

I'm using peroxide in my mix so that's not a problem.

There isn't reason I couldn't have my tap water analyzed and then create proper mixes with it when it has been rid of the calories.

Lots of folk use rain where its more plentiful.

            • I forgot to mention pH but that really is more on the area you live and the water you get

              • these days i BUY distilled water straight from the grocery store because i cant trust city water any more.

Alot of people like to talk real proud about their well-water or using rain water and the actual quality DEPENDS and where you live and the chemicals in the air and what is in the ground. many MANY variables. if you were in Michigan, for example it might not be ideal

to get back to your initial question, RO is good but you need to use much more calmag because it contains no actual minerals

                • I agree with Sub's take that mineral content can vary . Have your water tested then you know what's in it, and you can use it accordingly. It truly depends on where you live.

                  • also wanted to say that just cause it is RO or distilled or rain water or well water, that doesnt mean your pH doesnt need to be checked.  it can still be WAYYYY off and be pure. usually its a little high. around here anyway
