Coco

Dudes some guidelines for coco. When’s a good time to feed with nutrients? Right after 7 days? And some general information please! I have tried growing in coco coir from start to finish. I just need a refresher

    • you could be feeding and watering up to three times a day . It is not soil it is Hydro. You are not supposed to let it dry out. If I was you I would grow in soil first to get the basics down. Some people on here have automatic water systems for coco. I just got tired of hand watering so much.

      • I dont do any kind of buffer any more, I use the Mother Earth Coco with Perlite or Coco Loco its straight from the bag to the pot or cup then I give it enough PH water and cal/mag so I can work it, dust the roots with Azo's .

        • If you get the bricks of just plain coco It is recommended to buffer if it is coco loco , Mother earth you don't have too. I could be wrong but when I grew in coco that is what I read . But you always believe what is on the internet right lmao?

          • I used to get the bricks now I buy the premixed, it costs a little more but worth it IMO. Maybe buffering helps but I know not buffering doesnt hurt and coco coir grows are pretty damn fast and I have never killed a seedling

            • I start feeding seedlings right away with calmag and rapid Start.  Within 3 days I start adding microbs and my base grow nutrient.

From there when your ready for transplant from solo cups to big boy pots, everyone starts doing what they think is best for their plants. I feed a lot of shit to my plants but good shit and I do it slow this way I see if I'm giving to much or I need to give more.

When mature my plants get fed 6x a day so your plants reaction will be quick.

              • I am pretty much on the same plan as Pipes, once a seed pops I put a drop or 2 of Cal/Max on the rapid rooter or rockwool, not to close but on top,  how is that for vague? The #1 thing to take from Pipes comment is

"I feed a lot of shit to my plants but good shit and I do it slow this way I see if I'm giving to much or I need to give more"

Coco and water grows are way differnt than soil grows, I soil your plants have to work for their food in hydro they do not, its a 24/7 smorgusboard after a concert. From what I have read it takes a week or more for roots in soil to get to whatever you add and in coco you will probably know tomorrow if you screwed up and over fed the next day and 2 -3 after that if you under fed.

With the auto feed I feed for a minute each time starting at 3 and if I see run off I drop it down to twice a day and then I increase the cycles until I see run off. I have valves on my hose to restrict the volume but the 1 minute length of time is all in the timer

In the Ebb & Flow I run it 3 times a day for 5-8 minutes.
