Autos or fems???

Which is preferred by the seasoned grower and what is recommeded for a person looking to grow a nice full 4' x 4' screen of green ? I am a first time serious grower and it was recommended by a person local to go autos in a sea of green which he had been doing. So I put together a nice string screen in a 4 x 4 frame with ten autos but I feel like I could actually get a much fuller screen out of just 5 fems instead. Am I wrong or right?

    • welcome to weedportal! 10 autos is 10 fuckin seeds. if youre gonna do a SEA of green you need similar plants and the best way to get similar sized plants is to clone from a photoperiod. consistency is the key to a SEA of green. maybe youre confusuing Sea of Green with SCREEN of GREEN

      • One fem can fill a 4 X 4 screen with a little guidance and 2 autos could probably do it too, 2 photos or 4 autos would easily do it, but it sounds like you are confusing or combining a SOG with an SCROG.

        As Sub said if you decide to go with autos its a fucking seed per plant, with photo periods and you can grow as many plants as you want with that one seed.

        • Welcome to the portal! I prefer fem seeds and I think you will too. Fem seeds give you complete control over your growing time and they tend to be a lot less finicky. It does seem as if you are mixing up the difference between Scrog and sog, no worries. A Scrog will give you the best harvest for the space you have (imo) but read, study and ask questions here as you prepare to grow so that you can make your first time the best you can. Welcome!

          • I agree with all TB I believe is spot on. I would go with fem plant myself because they are more forgiving and you will make mistakes as we all still do but once you get down the feedings and diagnosing skills honed in then I would move to autos.  Biggest thing I has to learn is patients let them do there thing. Ask lots of questions people on here are amazing growers. Welcome to the portal

          • If you decide to clone you really need two separate setups or you wont be vegging your clone very long I would take a fem grow to the end then venture into other areas my opinion.
