Dry time

Is a five day dry too early to trim and cure?

    • Definitely not to early to trim. I'm not sure "on the plant" is too early to trim.

Five days is a little quick, for drying. But I think if you let it cure  for a while, it'll be fine. A longer cure oughta offset any harshness from the speedy dry.

Be warned, you may get that "hay" smell with a fast dry.

      • 5 days is kind of quick Imo, the "slower the dry, the better" I like 7 days to dry or so. I cure about 2-3 weeks. Also, I trim them before I hang to dry, it's just what I do

        • for the most part, your buds will snap right off when they are dry enough. when my harvest is drying i will give a bud a light squeeze to guage what it feels like, If it feels like i can break it up in my grinder, it is dry. if it is soft, moist or like cotton candy consistency it needs time. 5 days seems kinda fast on the average.

Dont be in a hurry. Another day wont hurt anything!  if its not dry enough and you transfer to mason jars too soon, you will get mold and that nasty ammonia smell

            • I have had real good luck with hanging and drying the whole plant for 2-3 days, then trimming and drying for a few more days in a basket type hanger, The last grow I made it to 10 days total drying time that way and it was pretty good. I will stick with the 7 day target min but if I can get 10 or more days I will take it
