Defoliation
How many times should you defoliate your plants? I’ve heard many different times, just like to get the average. My plants have catchers mitt sized leaves and cast a lot of shade.

Mostly depends on 2 things. The grower, and the plant.
Some growers like to keep plants pretty bare, for max air flow and light penetration.
While others take off only what is needed to prevent humidity and shading issues.
And, some plants, more so Indicas, need defol'ed more than others.

I agree with RbtAsq its up to the grower and the plant. I tend to grow hybrid's and depending on which way the plant is leaning, Sativa/Indica, I'll do a partial/full Schwazz at the flip and again 22 days after leaving one fan leaf per bud site. I think the bottom line is getting as much direct light on the buds as possible and remembering they don't share/.

Plucking leaves from my grow is almost a daily ritual for me...

I pretty much do the same as you CPW. At flip and 20 days later.

I think it is strain dependent for sure, however for me I like to tuck as much as possible and wont take any usually until two weeks before I flip giving them time to adjust alowing the plant to direct more energy to the canopy. Then after the stretch I will do a heavy trim and I like to lollipop them then I will wait another couple of weeks again depending on the strain then I will take the leaves I can't tuck that are blocking light to the bud sites. For me its an average of 3 trims aside from the pluck here pluck there I do as well.

Prob a million different ways to defol... @RbtA...Love the "grower and the plant," comment ! Pretty much what the Hulkster is saying too ! Hulkster, I started "tucking" recently. Never had done it before, it was just easier to yankum. Tucking for sure, will preserve a healthy leaf if needed. @CPW was that an attempt at being a comedian.
