Start Blooming
Hello friends and good health to all! I have а question again: If the growth is on the vega 18/6 flowering goes to 12/12, but if the growth was 20/4 what is the right time to do for flowering 12/12 or 14/10?

My vote is for 12/12 but I know others will have a better handle on this.
I do know that it gets funky when you mess with what works.

thats an interesting question...what triggers the plant to start blooming in nature is when days start getting shorter...inside most folks flip from what ever in veg to 12/12 and that sudden change makes it start blooming faster than mother nature does... so that being said...its up to you as to what length of light ya wanna start em to bloom...ive wondered and might try an experiment sometime , to see if on a longer veg time in longer light and then flip it to bloom, but still keep it longer than 12/12..say something like if ya had it on 20/4 and flipped to 18/6 it will still start blooming..wondering if the longer bloom light time will make the plant bloom faster or more? 18/6 to 12/12 or like 20/4 to 18/6 or any other numbers as long as bloom light is shorter than the veg light was on

i have limited knowledge on the subject because i only grow indoors (for now) but i am a 12/12 man based on my experience

Giving a flowering plant longer dark, and shorter daylight hours will shorten flowering time.
But it's a trade off, because it also lessens the harvest quantity.
12/12 is pretty much standard, to give the plant the max daylight hours for flower development.
Less than 12 hours of dark, and you risk the plant slipping back into veg.

but what i was meaning in my rant was...like inside ones if they on 20/4 and u flip to 18/6 they will start to bloom too..and ya have 18/6 during bloom. so they have more than 12/12 of light to bloom with.....when outside here i dont get 12/12 till sept 25th

I say this with all due respect...And a total lack of knowledge going from 20/4 to 18/6...But I would have to see a 20/4 to 18/6 do a complete flower cycle to be convinced that statement is a fact...

After about 5 weeks in true flower, or 7 weeks after the flip to 12/12 I put mine on 14/10 to increase the DLI without cranking the lights up to frying intensity and it seems to work ok. Actually this is the 2nd grow I have done that on and so far so good.

i am all for experiments. one thing i like to do is play devils advocate and do a ' what if? '..
What if.... i start a plant vegging at 24 hours of light??
will it flower when i reduce it to 18/6???
i dont think so. thats why i am saying 12/12 (give or take an hour or so)
any more light and you will risk revegging and NOBODY wants that!!
