Sprouting in Rockwool

I am not a big fan of rockwool which is why I have a bunch of it, I think its a good idea and then decide differently. But stubbornness wins out of what little intelegnce just about every time  and I have a lot of seeds  so I kept at it and now I have 5 Crescendo RBx1 from Ethos and one Glookie from Barneys sprouted in rockwool cubes. Seral Lemon OG Haze Auto and Photoperiod seeds, gave their lives to make this happen

So my question is I recently read that you need to add some kind of nutrients to rockwool cubes as soon as you see green. Is that what you rock wool germinators do?

    • I treat rockwool, peat pellets and rapid rooters the same way. when they peak out of whatever you are using I feed mycorrhizal fungi for a week or so then move onto bigger and better things...

      • Sounds like a good plan, I think it was you that recommended CANNA Rhizotonic for seedlings and that stuff kicks ass. I soaked these seeds in water with a 1 ml of that stuff, they all popped a little so I put them in rockwool that was dipped in the same solution, and the next day I had green and 3 days later I had over an inch of tap root coming out the bottom of 4 of the 6 2" rockwool plugs, So thanks for that

      • Lately Ive been doing paper towel germination and transfer to a split rockwool cube. but ive also germinated directly in rockwool. Either way, in preparation, i soak my rockwool in pH'd water with cal mag and or rapid start. its inert just like coco. Im sure im not telling you anything you dont already know

        • A few grows back I started soaking them in water until I see them pop a little at least a little. I started using the CANNA Rhizotonic this grow and it seems to speed things up a bit, I will add some cal/mag tomorrow and put some in a foliar spray with the  Rhizotonic and then they are going straight into the RDWC, I usually let them grow a couple of nodes before I do that but these will have roots long enough to reach the water in about 2 more days. Or I will do something stupid and kill them all.

            • They do have good genetics, the Mandarin Cookies and Mandarin Bubba were both awesome strains, I didnt get close to the THC % they claim but I will take the bulk of the blame for that.  I do think the owner is one of the first from a generation of kids that got an award for just showing up at the little league game, "We dont label our strains Indica or Sativa like you do" Well then call it a hybrid and smoke some so you lighten up Francis.

            • no idea aboot using rockwool to germinate but in promix when they pop i wait a weekish before feeding. glookies is good yielder and very trainable . likes her nutes too , i hit her hard with GH Flora trio with minimal burn.

              • That was a freebie from North Atlantic when I bought the Ethos seeds, I will probably grow it in the ebb and flow table and do a SCROG.  I have read the Crescendo RBx1 can be a bit finicky about nutes so thanks for the tip.
