light wattage vs. light airy buds
I've been an indoor gardener for around 11+ years and have just discovered that the lower the wattage of light in my flower room makes the buds on my plants lighter and airier. I say this because at first we grew 4 plants under 800W HPS and MH switching between grow and flower stages and always harvested light airy buds but so much of it we never complained. One time we saved some high quality seed from a bag of flower and managed to get a female and it was deformed and stressed out because of the low wattage and the heat those lights put out but it grew the densest nuggets I've ever grown. So then, since the quality of seed had something to do with the buds density, we managed to get our hands on a lot of good quality seeds. We grew those plants under a new lighting system consisting of 2 banks of 2000W led grow lights. Every harvest after that we had dense high quality bud. Last harvest though, I noticed one of my led banks was 1/2 out throughout that flowering session and the result was a harvest of light airy buds. I'm guessing that light wattage has a lot to do with light airy buds somehow and the quality of seed matters too. I wonder what other growers have experienced and what they think.

Welcome to WP! so i agree with the others that mentioned Genetics Are The Biggest Part IMO..ive had some awesome Hard, Sticky, Sweet Buds with my T5 Lampz setups in the past....also i dont really grow any strains that are Dominant Sativa, if i can help it..i like Indica dominant

2 grows ago I reluctantly switched from HID's to LED's, I got none of the benefits I made the switch for, less heat and lower electric bill didnt happen but much to my surprise I get a better yeild and buds the buds are harder, plus I saved a ton of money by switching to GIECO,
I dont think plants give a damn about watts but it is a combo of everyting and timing. I have seen some really nice grow with CFL's & T5's but they were from great growers.

I had a friend in KY that sold custom gadgets for Bow's, sighting, trigger release, etc. He would go to shows and put 5 out of 5 arrows in a beer can at a range I couldnt have done with open sites on a rifle, people snatched those things up but what they didnt know is he could do the same thing without any gizmos. I think LED's are a lot like that and some of the growers that have the top shelf lights could probably do just as well with really strong flashlight. lol

First welcome to the portal I’m sorry it took a decade for you to learn that it makes me grateful for the portal so much good info. Now that your running LED’s the thing that really helped my grows is taking the wattage drawn from wall or what they call true watts and calculate my wattage by sq ft if that number is between 45-60 your golden

Very true my 600 watt G8 light draws 330 about I don’t remember you can look up any light online to find draw and my bestva 2000 watt light draws close to the same so as you can see big difference in advertisements but that’s why I chose those lights one is a white light the other the g8 is the purple light. They really seem to like both I rotate and shift them around constantly well when I remember to
