Tips for soil knats

Got a few knats around the dirt and was wondering if I could get a few recommendations on getting rid of them before they go crazy.

Neem oil and hydrogen peroxide diluted seem to be the front runners but would love to here what everyone likes.

    • 1/4" to 1/2" of sifted sand on top and a couple sticky traps. The sand keeps them from entering and laying eggs or as juveniles exiting.

        • So we have some sand for a playground.  It's been sterilized, washed, dried and screened.  Would this be ok to use or do I need to find a silica sand to avoid any salt?

            •  The problem with mosquito dunks/ bits is, you have to keep the soil wet to keep it effective.

Wet soil is an optimum environment for breeding.

You're better off with an insecticide that lists "Soil Drench" as a type of application.

              • True but not a problem with coco. I had a knat problem outside my front door and put some in a cup of water and they would stay away unless I let them dry out but I think you guys are referring to a different kind of knat
