How close to the plants do I keep the lights

I am using T-5 6500k Hydro Planet grow lights. How close from the top of my plants do I keep them? And I am growing Autos so do I stay 24/7 lighting or cut it back 18/6 to let them rest?

      T-5's you can lower to within a couple of inches.

      Autos run on 18/6 light cycle.
