Growth indicators

I am at the point where I am worried about airflow and want to defoil, I wanted to wait till stretch is over but might have to do it before hand. I’m 14 days into flower they still appear to be stretching but now I have what I call the Don king growth where the bud sites have that little ball of hairs that looks like don kings hair

Mu question is:  Is there any growth indicators on the plant that would show the plant is done stretching other than the obvious. Thanks girls and guys

    • i would say you are good to defoliate now. i would do a little bit at a time so it doesn't stress the plant out to much.GL

            • Yeah ChAs I remember that . @ Hulkster... to answer your question about the end of the stretch. Bud development, internode spacing, and height all are indicators. That combined with experience and strain .

              • Node spacing is something I did not think about thanks Chubbs

              • I usualy do a heavy defol at the flip and then one more time at 22 days after the flip. The time frame is from the schwazzing technique but I dont always strip the leaves as much as you do with schwazzing

                • If you do a full schwazzing you will think you have destroyed the plant but they bounce back in no time. With the way you grow in batches of a couple of strains I would try it on one plant and then compare at the end. Those plants are too pretty to go all in now, lol

                  • I went onto ILGM and was reading about lollipopping from the top down which is like getting ride of all growth except 4-5 main branches?

                    • Is that the same as Schwazzing

                    • Thanks guys, I did defoil this morning I took 3-4 lower branches and couple of fan leaves. I wish I read Spiders reponse before I did cause maybe I have been doing it wrong. Do you guys do it in stages or is it best to stress them once then let them heal. I know this isn't a question most with experience ask but just because I have done it a certain way doesn't mean it's correct, and Im willing to learn and change (Jessie)

                        • I have stripped 75% off a plant - I have bent broke twisted branches - it just keeps growing!
but a 25 % removal 3 times is what I do 25% gone on first sign of bud. 25% 2 weeks later. Then 25% before last month of flower.
leaves a nice top only plant that is easy to see under and through.
