PPFD

is keeping the light far away but on more percentage the same as less percentage and closer distance? do the plants react differently if it's more wattage but farther away?

      • There is a great app for your phone that measures ppfd and DLI

        Works great

        • The plant only cares about how much ppfd it’s getting hit with, the distance doesn’t matter much but a lower percentage will make it stretch in the direction of the light as the plants trying to grow to a place were there’s more food/light.

          • Raising and lowering the light will change the PPFD the plant is getting hit with. When I get to mid flower I want 900 PPFD at the top and hope for 500 as far down as I can get it, by late flower I will bump it up to 600 at the lowest bud site and keep an eye out for light burn on the top, Above 1200 and it can get ugly fast if you dont have CO2.

In the long run the DLI is what really matters though. I changed the hours the lights were on to 13/11 and held it at 45 DLI, I may go for 50 this time.

BTW I am very new to LED's and I screw up a lot, so proceed with caution.

              • Lots of things make them stretch or keep them from it. Genetics are a big factor so are nutrients. Some strains won’t start to stretch until the 2nd week and I don’t think Autos ever stop stretching

if your in the 12/12 cycle I would bump that up to 300 ppfd and see what happens. Also is that light at full spectrum regardless of how dim it is?
