tissue culture clones

Merry Christmas ! Happy Holidays!!

Here's another fun discussion I would love to hear some voices on. How about tissue culture clones? Anyone have experience with them or made them? I see there are sources for materials and oodles of instruction, helps to have a little biology background I suppose. A clean sterile work area is required. So how about it What do you all think of tissue culture?

Just curious.

Would be neat to have that skill set so if I came across a truly wonderful Phenotype, just take and clone a sample into more plants.

      • yep easy peasy that's how I do it as well. But this peeked my interest and wondered of others experiences and their take on it. Taking cuts from a 8" mother would conserve a lot of space since the cuts can be literally a slice of stem and a small bit.

        • heres how i do it! Take cuttings dipped into aloe vera plant then into rockwool. I also use a humidity dome and i spray mist my clones once a day to keep the humidity going! calmag slution

          • I looked into it a while ago and Tissue Culture Clones are not rooted cuttings, they are pieces of stem stored in a sterile environment then the pieces can be started in a compost or something like that. It would be great to store a small piece of a plant instead of keeping a mother plant alive. The kits are a couple $100 each and it would be fun to try someday but I have a feeling they would end up under the clothes stored on the rowing machine

            • Mostly curious, but wanted hear about, or if anyone in this well educated fellowship had some experience  or thoughts on it. Fun stuff it would be to play with but I too, am afraid  it would end badly.
