SCROGing and You

I have seen there are a couple of types of SCROG techniques and I am wondering which one works best for you and why. One method I see is has a main stem and lots of off shoots from the base up to the net. The mains are usually topped once and the resulting mains are woven into the net and any off shoots from the main end up woven in the net or poking through the net.

The other method I have seen is the main grows up through the net, then its topped and the 2 resulting mains  or sometimes 4 mains are woven into the net and every branch below the net gets chopped.

I have seen great results both ways but what works best for you?

    • I like HHT method. I veg. Then when I want to flower It goes under the net. Mine never looks like his. Sometimes they look good, most times they are not purdy, but have learned just cause they ain't purdy doesn't mean the quality isn't there most are good and have come to the conclusion , looks don't mean diddly.(of the scrog) My idea is to open the plant up and give as much light to as much of it as I can.

          • Well that does look like hell doesnt it, lol. I like the next episode where he kind of washes the roots off at the res change and his 2nd net in ep5 is a great idea.

          • I top my plants at the 4th node then remove all the fan leaves except for 2 and then spread the 8 branches out under the net. This makes the nodes of each branch go crazy with growth.

            • Thats basically what I have been doing but I have trouble getting under there to clean them up. Maybe I will go a couple more nodes and then cut the ones under it so I still have the 4 branches. I just read an an article about setting the net a different heights for different types, Indica was the shortest, Haze plants were in the middle and Sativa were the tallest. I should try to find that article

                • welcome to weedportal michael webber. scrogging is a form of plant training that spreads out the plant horizontally to get the most out of it

                  • For me a Scrog is the way to maximize my per plant yeald in a limited height room. I grow my plants horizontally rather than vertically. I only top once and then spread the growth over a 30x30 space.

                  • keep it low and let everything stay under the net. thats all i was doing. ive seen hygro hybrid do it and his plants get 3 foot tall before they even get a net ontop. so weird. on my last one i totally lost control in the end, with way too many bud sites but i got a TON of bud and will keep things the same for the most part
