SOG

I decided this grow to run a SOG I have always wanted to and now that I’m doing it I feel like a hot mess. I started a pack of five than 2 weeks later decided to do a SOG so 4 strains later I have 12-13 but wanted 15 so now I am waiting for another pack from Nirvana to arrive now it’s 5 strains 15 plants and about 3-4 week different in when they were or will be popped. I figure I will just harvest accordingly but should have started them all the same time. Any thoughts or ideas appreciated.

    • Yeah usually much better to start all seed at the same time with SOG

      • Do you have a separate space for vegging and flowering ? there is high chance plants from different strains not sowed at the same time won't be ready for the flowering flip at the same time.

        • Hey Vince I do not what you see is what I have to work with they will all be flipped the same time only catch is obviously some will have a couple more weeks of veg than others. Going to be busy I think.

        • What up Hulkster, You're flyin by the seat of your pants on this one !!! Kinda like I do on all my ID grows !  I don't know what's the difference between a SOG, and a bunch of healthy plants, topped and flowered at the same time. You'll kill it !! Support of the plants could be important later on !! GL

          • Thanks Chubbs. Wasn’t planning on topping at all BUT might have to on the first ones started just to keep them somewhat uniformed.

            • yeah you prolly gonna have hard time keeping an even canopy but few topping and LST form some plant might do the job.

Somehow SOG for me is all about the right time for the flip so they stretch accordingly without topping, not too small, not too tall and it's kinda tricky. That's also why i grow one strain at time because if a strain need two week of veg and another need four it quickly become a problem without a separate veg area.

Best advice is next time your try sog with 15 plants, pop 20 seeds at the same time and you should be oki. Preferably from the same strain, or at least strain you already tested that you now need the same amount of veg before the flip.

              • What size are those bags? If I am gu-estimating the size correctly they look like 5 gallon. I had 6 plants in a 2 X 3 area and in 2 gallon plastic bags and they took over so I ended up taking one or 2 out. I like the plastic nursery bags, they are taller than the cloth bags, and since I am looking for smaller plants I don't care much about them air pruning.   Its kind of cool how the roots grow into bottom folds of the bags

                • Little 2.5 gal plastic pots this time with built in drip tray $3.50 a piece I agree I didn’t needs fiber pots for a SOG plus u don’t like how shallow the small bags are these I think are perfect for my space
