Trichome Development and Growth

A couple years ago I became friends with real smart guy Kenny Morrow, of Trichome Technologies. We talk quite a bit about different stuff pertaining to weed. Yesterday I asked him about early trichome development and it's maturity. I thought you guys might like to hear what he said . Kenny M 11:51 AM (54 minutes ago) to me Apologies I miss understood the question, the science of cannabis trichome science is in its infancy in reality, but based upon what little studies or papers written regarding trichome development and content it seems that silica aids in trichome developed which is hypothesized to be a makeup of the resin gland membrane, as well as sulfur based compounds that aid in thiol production, light spectrum has also been thought to influence trichomes, but perhaps there needs to be a proper investigation into the subject before anyone can claim an educated opinion based on factual data. Regarding larger and smaller trichomes perhaps diversity explains the size difference, ie an apple tree produces large and small apples on the same tree, even though both are mature ?.

    • Good info, I had read that silica is good for flowering especially in hydro

      • Good info thanks chubbs, since very little has been documented in the study of this does that mean terp and purpinator are just gimicks? I stopped using it because of cost but I did not notice enough of a difference to use it all the time, If I had it I would use it because I would rather use that to lower my PH than PH down.

        • I think or actually I have proven to myself they both make a difference in hydro, water and coco coir, but I use them at about 1/4 the recommended strength in early flower and about 1/2 strength in later flower up to a week before harvest. I think roots have to work harder in soil than they do in hydro so that boosts the terp production. Now that I have the brix levels up in hydro grows I will test some in soil this summer and see how it looks and smokes
