    • Awesome spot ODG ! Soil looks strong ! Do you have a prob with water run off, not reaching the roots ? We had a severe drought this year and water infiltration was critical. I too was on a little slope. I had to build containment rings around the base of my plants with a mulch compost mix !  Next year they all will have those rings from the get go. Beautiful job !

      • Thanks guys! That’s a great idea Chubby. Was lucky with pretty good rain this season but was carrying a lot of water down in the early-mid summer when it was kind of dry. First try in this particular spot. Little un-tamed strip on a slope. Overgrown for years with mostly ferns and vines. The ground is covered with  a thick carpet of thatch built up over who knows how many decades of wild growth. At first I wondered if the rain would ever get through all that to the ground but it seemed to hold water deep pretty good!

Nice to connect with someone else growing on an incline :) One thing I noticed was that the plants like the ones pictured, a little further up the slope, grew mostly straight up, ignoring the slant, while one further down grew on an angle, perpendicular to the ground. That one almost blew over in a storm and needed support.

        Thanks again!
