How do you transplant bare rooted clones to rockwool?

I built a aero cloner, and it works really well, I usually get roots in 10 days or less, so what would you do next? I usually split a rapid rooter and put the clone in the RR and in a net pot with hydrotron and wait for the roots to hit water. Even with me top feeding Its slow, but works.  Last time I put the bare rooted clones in split rockwool cylinders and put the cylinders in 4 x 4 cubes in net pots with hydrotron and the net pots into the ebb & flow so the root could develop, it took forever. Any suggestions

    • I've always gone from the cloner, straight to hydroton.

      • You dont use rockwool? I tried going straight to hydrotron in the ebb & flow and it didnt go well for some reason. Operator error I suspect.

        •  I gave up on rockwool when I built the cloner.

Just gotta be careful when back filling the hydroton around the roots. Then I raise the water level till it touches the bottom layer of hydroton, so no need to top water.

          • Thanks, my net pots have a 2 inch punt in the bottom so I will try letting the roots get a little longer in the cloner and see how that works. I tried the Azos method of cloning in rockwool and rapid rooters and after 15 days I gave up, pulled the cuttings and put them in the cloner and they rooted 8-10 days later. lol.

          • If you are ebb and flow I suggest anything but clay balls. (In ebb and flow) I been ebb and flow for years and have tried clay balls, peat pellets, rapid rooters and rockwool. Rapid rooter, peat pellets, or rockwool work best for me. I let the roots start showing then put em in the basket then use your clay balls and no worries about getting broke, you get more stability this way. This is just my opinion!

            • heck I guess that didn't really answer your question, you can split open a rapid rooter or rockwool and put your clone in it...I've done this before it will work...

              • you got to have a decent amount of roots before putting in basket

                • Thanks Rick, my first E&F grow was a drip feed into coco with the plants rooted in rock wool and in bags, I had hydrotron in the  bottom of the bags, I put a manifold on the fill nozzle and added feedlines, it went ok but not great. My next one was the same but no drip feed just E&F, I think it went the  best. My last grow was in net pots with no rockwool and didnt go well but I think that was my fault for neglecting it.

I am just toying around with different methods of growing in E&F to ultimately start my plants in there and give the roots time to grow through the net pots so I can put them in the RDWC and shave a week or 2 off the grow time. I also want to setup a SOG grow in a E&F just for fun.
