Backcrossing a strain?
My understanding of backcrossing is pollenating a plant from the same seed batch, a brother and sister so to speak. But the best backcross is to cross a plant grown from the seed back with one of the parents. Since the parents have run their course, the only ways I can think of to do that would be to root clones from the parents early on or reveg the parents. Can you reveg a male or is the female the only choice? Is it true pollen only lasts about a month in the freezer?

Yes you can re-veg a male plant..i did it couple years ago with a Nirvana Ice male..it was one i liked cos it showed its sex early and i crossed more strains the 2nd time around

hvnt tried those yet, but other crosses i make all are viable.. nice dark speckled seeds...im gonna try a few those in my second side project this late winter...some those 11 Spartan x Ice and Ice x 11 Spartan mixes and also a Crystal x Ice

Why wouldn't a male reveg ? Same species, should behave similarly. Only one way to find out clone a male let it go to flower and send it back to veg. Or if you have a male handy try to reveg. Most don't have males around to experiment with so I think an experienced breeder would have your answer.

not sure about length of time pollen is good when frozed...ive froze it be and used it and some was good but then seems later on when tryna use the same again it wasnt any good..i used to have a lot of diff strains pollen but i tossed em when i found they wasnt keepin very long..i had em in double or trippled ziplocks in a sealed jar too...so now i just use it up right away
