Well white widow is not really true white widow either, black widow is the true white widow.
When green house split in the past and one of the owners left an went on to make mr. nice seed bank, he took the mother plants that were used to make the original white widow with him an he also renamed it to differentiate it from all the imposters.
nirvana sells it as Reg but they were gifted the clone from mr. nice.

They all may have the same strain named parents but they will be different plants. I have Chocolate Haze from Royal Queen seeds and Cocopopo from Bulk Seed Bank both have the same strain parents OG Chocolate Thai and Cannalope Haze but the plants I have growing could not be more different unless one puts out tomato

I’d say one breeder uses the chocolate Thai as the mom and the other breeder uses it as the dad.
you change the way a strain is crossed an you’ll end up with something different entirely most of the time.
