GOOD READ ON FLUSHING

The great debate... Personally I do not  "flush," but I do water only for the last 2 weeks . Maybe we all should flush ? This read breaks it down . Happy growin

Flushing: The Great Debate

To flush or not to flush, that is the question. While some growers find flushing unnecessary, there are also many techniques for this process that some feel result in better buds. Flushes remove or make nutrients unavailable to the roots so plants are forced to use their reserves for growth. Flushing techniques can be divided into three main categories: passive, active, and chemically enhanced. For more advice on flushing in different mediums, consult Marijuana HarvestHere I want to talk about passive flushing.

Passive Flushing

The difference between passive and active flushing is that at some point in the plant’s rush to ripening, either you, the caretaker, or nature makes a decision to help the plant ripen by removing nutrients from the soil. The primary nutrient that is removed in this process is nitrogen, although many other water-soluble nutrients are removed.

Plants growing in mix or soil are flushed using water. Dissolved and soluble salts are drained out. Depending on how thorough the flush, much, most, or nearly all of the soluble nutrients are removed

Plants react quickly to this sudden change in the environment by focusing their energy on the maturation of flowers rather than the continued production of flowers.

Passive flushing is when you let the plants use the reserves in the mix. You can then perform an active flush close to ripening. For more tips on active and chemically enhanced flushing, check out the Marijuana Grower’s Handbook.

    • Great point ! If it even improves the smoke a little, that's a good thing.

        • I flush to kinda get the plant to finish, I have noticed if I don't and I keep feeding, the pistils keep coming and coming.  I really don't notice any smoke difference.  Maybe because I watched that High Times flush test with those cannabis experts or stoners not sure, but if memory serves me, they actually thought the non flushed weed tasted better.  But I definitely notice my buds finishing, if not my 2 weeks never ends.  And yea all i do is 2 tsp Clearex with a gallon of water for my 3 gallon fabrics for llike 2 weeks.

          • there was a study (side-by-side) and some were 4 day -7 day and  14 day and they found that the 3-4 day flush was best, the 7-14 day lacked some taste, ect. When you think of it you are starving the plant for 14 days "salts" can be removed qiuckly. Now  new growing thoughts are comming out saying light feeding can be use during your flush if 14 days   Just to add to the debate  chemical flush - 2 weeks ---organic flush -1 week i you feel the need to flush

            • Flushing might be more for growers that pump the plants with a lot of nutes .
