I GOT LUCKY TODAY...not that kinda lucky
What up Homeslices, Last week I sent my new organic mix I made for 22, to Michigan State soil lab to be tested. It came back testing how I thought it would, except for N levels. It said that my N level PPM's were 50 which is very low . This ain't my first rodeo, but I couldn't figure out why. SOOO I called the lab and talked to Heather who talked to the guy that tested the sample. This is his response I just got...
Hi Mark;
Heather will be sending you a new report for the potting soil sample. I miscalculated the nitrate and ammonium values so they were only 1/6 of what they should have been. As far as the magnesium goes, that is the correct number of x's. A lower amount salts from magnesium as compared to calcium is considered optimum to prevent a magnesium toxicity situation. Plants can tolerate a higher percentage of calcium salts. Please let me know if you have any further questions. Thank you. Jon
Michigan State's lab is one of the best around, they not only got back to me in minutes, but they also admitted they're mistake !!! I got lucky because I was gettin ready to add Blood meal to up the N levels. That coulda been disaster !! Peace out
