Rain Water Collection System

The snow sure looks purdy !!  I was goin thru some pics today, and found this pic of my rain water irrigation system. Super easy to build and plants love RW !! I have three 50 gal garbage cans outside the shop collecting RW from the gutter. The RW gets sucked from these cans thru the shop wall and into a 5 gal bucket with the Bucket Head Vac. I then pour that RW from that bucket, into the blue bucket to mix nutes and irrigate plants.  Using a sump pump, a few feet of hose, and a real cool wand, you can have a pretty sweet set up ! The sump pump will recirculate the water thru the hose and wand when mixing, and to irrigate the plants. Try to get a wand that has a rotating head with several settings, and a off/on valve.  Tip: Get a lighted off/on switch for your sump pump cord, where you plug it into the wall. PS... I DO NOT LIKE CARRYING WATER !!!!  A big thing I like about this system is...with a long wand like I use, you can reach back into the hard to reach areas of these tents, ! I can sit on a revolving bucket and water (2) 4x8 tents without ever standing up, or movin the bucket!! This includes mixing nutes. Not for everybody but works for me ! Peace

    • That's fantastic! Rain water collection is big in south Texas and as the climate changes it is going to be something more and more throughout the US.

      • That is pretty cool. Glad you found a use for the bucket head too.
