OD Grow / topping after tie down

I normally top at least 3 times before plants are put outside. Hardened off, of course. And approx 1.5’ at planting OD.  This year I let KK  get to approx 3’ high before I used 13” candy cane shape rebar to pin  multiple limbs to just above the ground level. Making the circumference 6’ circle. To the best of my ability anyways.  Lol.   Funny, but I took weed eater out and flattened that area before the pin so no tall grasses would shade the newly pinned limbs.  At this point KK has filled in beautifully but it is still taller than I would of liked.  At just over 5’ approx.   it’s just beginning to show pre flower BUT now I’ll have the added height of colas.   Could I have topped AGAIN… say approx 2 weeks after the limbs adjusted and stood back up without causing more stress  to the development .  I have a shorter growing season than most….   Would this also effect the harvest amount. Maybe not having enough time to  throw more limbs and colas.    ?????  Or the plant not miss a beat and hurry to put out colas faster ….

    • Hey Smiley, my opinion on this is it really depends on the plant and how she reacts to the the first toppings, two weeks is plenty of time for a plant to recover especially if it reacts good and keeps on ticking. You know what your doing so this would really be a intuition choice on your part. I usually top twice and I have two plants that were slower on there stretching then others so I topped once and I really think the topping once might be the way I go next grow because the colas although fewer are twice the size plus limbs support the weight a lot better. By the sound of it I don't think you will loose come harvest time.

      • Thx for your input. I’ve never grown kosher kush before , and was not sure of what to expect as this is actually my 1st extreme tie down, spreading it out almost flat….   Didn’t seem to mind a bit….   I did some preventative before and took that main stalk and duct taped all around where she might split….  Took a while….  I thought to fill in , but then I got a huge stretch…..   that’s where my question came from.     It’s like 😮😬 come fall…… when stuff starts dying off.  💥 BAM big ol bouquet of flowers sticking up.   I have decent cover….   But…….   I really thought plant would end up 3-3.5 feet before flowering.     This is so dang fun!!!

Now what you can do, is LST her to keep it low, pull branches down and fasten . There's many ways to do this, but use whatever way works for you. Be careful not to snap branches off !

        • Yea, she was pinned…. All branches just 3”-4” at most from the ground.   Spent awhile…. With the technique of firmly pinching branch between thumb and index and carefully working on bending it for a few minutes before lowering it to ground and using that rebar….     Before I used a double strand green yarn and made loop and used small tent steaks to just hide the big gal a little better.   Wasn’t thinking about doubling the yield by opening it up.  Lol.  Gettin tired of camouflaging by cutting various pine branches and any other misc brush to make her blend.   Im a legal state but I don’t want to advertise my girls…….    Ur the one who told me once …. Not to panic.  If I get a split ..  duct tape!!! Works like a charm ….   Barely showing  her pre flower today…..      only downside right now.. is ..  got a BLACK BEAR hanging out ..   on property, super close ….   We will get along just fine if bear don’t bed down on my ladies!!      I😊

          • Black Bear.. that's kinda cool .. you might try to scatter some moth balls a few feet from the plant . Not sure how bears react to them . I'd say they don't like the smell though . GL
