I use the Photone app for my iPhone, so far from the LED's I have checked they match the manufacturer ppfd maps so I wouldnt be afraid to go by that if you dont use a meter.

  Look into Daily light integral (DLI) if its of interest to you, but be warned this LED stuff can lead to a deep rabbit hole

  I am old school too, funny one part of my job it to write the instructions I know most people wont read, lol.
