MOST folks will tell you to look for pistils.

Because I cycle more plants than most, it's easier for me to use the date I flip. That gives me a single date, for a group of plants.

Flowering times given by breeders/ sellers aren't absolutes, so either way will get you in the ballpark of when to start scoping trichs.
