Bacteria and fungi can handle a wide range of ph. My blueberry bushes outside had mushrooms growing in the pots and the ph of that soil is close to 5.
only when the ph is either highly alkaline or acidic, is when it hurts the beneficials.
Bleach is 14, which is why its commonly used as a cleaning agent, same with vinegar but it has a ph of around 2.8.
