im still learning and not at the level of breeding and cross-breeding strains. I would think it would take years to get stable strains. i think of dogs. you cant take a chihuahua and cross it with a saint Bernard without massive problems. and so you can cross one plant strain with another but that may not necessarily be desirable and so i would think it would take tons and tons of trail and error. im always trying to learn

I think your right it will take a long time to stabilize a strain to make seeds without a dozen phenotypes so I will be doing a lot of cloning to start then some backcrossing like I learned in the back woods of Kentucky.
