I've never used bags or pots etc outside. Always dig huge hole ( whatever size my old body can handle ). X5 . Fill with my own worm dirt compost mixture ( another story ). Plant seeds directly. The only real problem I've ever had was termites , yes termites love the insides of the stalk . I've lost several plants over the years . The plant wilts and dies , inside will be 100's of termites .
