no they run about the same just brighter and have the app so i can shut them off from anywhere if need to. And they have the slow daylight ramp up to mimic sunup to sundown. so if anything, they save on electric because they don't run at 100%the full 12 hr cycle. and the uv bar i have on a smart plug so i can make sure my timer doesn't fail again and cause reveg again.
