What up CPW...Aerification is VITAL !!! I've grown in organic mixes lately, never just coir/perlite, and I usually aerifiy at least twice a season. A railroad nail is to frickin big ! I use a long 16' screw driver. There are SOOOO many great reasons to aerify !! I can think of 10 or more. Githerdone as best you can. If you feel like you're damaging the roots I would be careful. The roots will recover quick !

Actually in coco I use a kabob Skewer and it works pretty good most of the time. I am going to do that on the outside plants too this weekend. They are 2 lb bags and I have dowels I can use to aerate with. I dont worry about cutting roots, they grow back a double like topping. If I have one plant growing a little slow in Hydro I will give it a root trim and Bam its the leader of the pack.

Hell, maybe the roots getting cut is one of the perks of aerating

Dont try that in DWC, holes in your buckets are a bad thing
