What happens to the roots and leaves of trees at night?

the stomataof leaves close and no transpiration takes place and due to no sunlight no photosynthesis also takes place. So the leaves are inactive during the night. But the root is also less active because there very limited transpirational pull.

Morning watering is actually preferable to evening watering as the plant has time to dry before the sun goes down. At night, water tends to rest in the soil, around the roots, and on the foliage, which encourages rot, fungal growth, and insects.
