Im STRUGGLING Solved

by Jinx about May 23 - report

Over the past 3 yrs Ive been having a rough time. Im basically not allowed to yield anymore than 2-2.5oz per plant. I know theres something Im doing wrong and eager to find out what it is. Ive tried different strains from different seed companies. In a photoperiod plant, everything goes well until week 3 or 4 into flowering then it just STOPS growing and nothing I do from that point changes anything. Ive tried different pump/ airstone combos. For example, right now Im using a 2 port pump thats 126L per hour per port going to 2 8" airstones but have gone as far as hooking my asthma nebulizer up to an airstone. Ive tried nute from 3 different companies...green planet, gh, and now advanced nutrients. Ive experimented with different water temps, air temps. I even cut a hole in the top of a 15 gallon storage container, dropped the net pot in, and filled it full of nute with about 6 airstones hooked to 3 separate pumps...no change. Nothing works. I suspect it may be something that happens at germination. Sorry for the book, but I need help guys.

nutrients:   youve used three of the top of the line nutrient brands (green planet, gh, and now advanced nutrients) with no real significant change. I do notice that youre using 4ml/L and thats the max amount required. I use Advanced Nutrients @ 5 ml/Gallon!! of base nutes. I never go full strength on base nutes.

2 stones in DWC is more than enough.

Pipeman brings up a good point regarding a bloom booster during midflower. (This is a supplement) Liquid Koolbloom or if you are brand loyal Advanced makes Big Bud for weeks 2-6.

Screwstick asked a good question.. How long do you veg? and what kind of light are you using? A decent light can mean the diference between an ok grow and a kick ass grow!

Mainly i think you need consistency in your environment.

I can offer help with gh cause I use it as a base. Break down what your doing from the onset of 12/12, feed in your res. Also sounds like a dwc grow. How are your roots? Have you tried gh rapid start?Bigger the roots, bigger the fruits.

I highly doubt  it's germinations fault!

Dont trust the PH perfect to be perfect all the time, you still have to check it every day and adjust the PH depending on what gets used up and what you top off with.

I agree with screw, still check your ph! But it seems your issue is happening when using several types of nutrients.
You do know that weeks 4 and 5 you gotta hit them with a booster?

Are you adding that much to a liter or a gallon? That is 4x too much if it calls for 4ml per gallon.

Using 4ml per L of the AN, the EC comes out to 3.1 which I think is around 1550ppm

I dont think it has anything to do with germination or the air your pumping in. Where are you getting your seeds from?

Do the plants look healthy? What kind of light are you using and what strenght are you feeding at?

Screw, when you try out that coco auto feed your gonna see that anything veggies more than 4 weeks, your gonna have a monster! Very similar to the growth rate of rdwc.

Im using a 400w HPS. I haven't shared the most baffling part of this whole story. 2 white rhino seeds...1 grown in a normal DWC system, 1 grown in an old school drip ring system. The normal system stalls at week 4 like usual but the drip ring will keep gr...  more

I don't grow DWC but you may want to post a photo of one of your plants at the stage that it stops growing.

There are many good answers, and i agree with most of them. Your ph should fluxuate which allows the plants to uptake more nutrients. If the ph stays the same your plants may not uptake some nutrients they need. You neec really good lights that are proven to help produce large yields. Your veg time also has a lot to do with your yields. I like to veg my photo period strains for at least 8 weeks. The reason this is done is to create a nice solid, healthy root system. Like Pipe's said, the better the roots the more the fruits. Keep your relative humidity and grow space temps within reason. I think it is best to stick with just one nutrient company for your base nutrients. I also use the GH Flora series base nutrients. I have used them for a long time with good results imo. By sticking with your choice of base nutrients you can tweek these to where they give you a better yield. You also need to use bloom boosters. I use Liquid Koolbloom from the start of flower until the last 4 weeks of flower, then i switch to Mother of all Blooms which is a finisher and very potent. I use this for only 3 weeks and then i flush. Once you get things together you will find yourself having better yields imo. Most of us have had this issue before, but don't give up, just work your way through it. Good luck.  Peace
