Are Clones More Potent Than Mothers?

by Screwstick about May 21 - report

I have read that clones are more potent than the mothers because they are technically older when they go into flower. If that is true than a plant that vegs for 4 weeks is going to be more potent than a plant that is in veg for 8 weeks.

Has anyone noticed any difference to back up these theories? I have not.

Sorry auto only growers, I guess you wont know until try a photoperiod. LOL

I doubt it. Might grow a little wierd from all the cutting but potency should be as good or better.

It should be the exact same as the mother plant. If you took a clone off of a clone it might be less potent but if you read your question again first you said that a clone would be more potent than the mother plant because it is older. Then you said if that is the case a plant that vegs for 4 weeks should be more potent than one that vegs 8 weeks. According to that theory then the one that is older should be more potent. That would be the one that vegs the longest. I think they should be exact replicas myself. Afterall, it is the same plant.

The theory is the longer in veg the more potent the smoke.
So if you take cuttings off a mother plant that has been in veg for 4 weeks give it 2 weeks to recover and then flip to flower, in approximately 16 weeks total, veg & bloom, the mother will b...  more

I grow both auto's and photo's, and i also don't believe this is true. A clone is just like the mother, thus it is called, "a clone."  Besides that you would need to have a lab to test the potency of the mother and the clone. And then your mother plant would not be used as a mother any more once it has flowered, right?  Peace

      Are you cloning clones?

Thanks, I think we are all on the same page with this, the length of time in veg makes no difference in the potency.

It makes me sad to say but I dont think you can trust everything you read on the internet

I trust half of what I read and less of what I hear! There is a lot more false information out there than good information in my opinion.

Hell I only trust half of what I see and nothing I hear or read, I suppose that is why I am always testing things.

i would think the clone would be exactly the same in potency as the mother plant because it would be an extension of the original. Just in a different container. Also im happy you agree that vegetation doesnt really play a role in potency of a plant in the grande scheme of things

NO SHIT!! I have listened to so many so called master "growers" on YouTube tell people to do things that I would never do because I already know what the outcome would be.
