Flood Table, Eleven Spartans Update and Some Root Ball Porn

by Screwstick about April 27 - report

These are the 2 Eleven Spartans, started in Rockwool & Ebb & Flow, put in 1 gallon bags with rockwool and 50/50 coco coir and Hydroton, then I changed the table to a top feed. Its a very versatile system and I added an adjustable height SROG Net. These are reg’s and I wasn’t sure if of the sex until I force sexed some cuttings so I didn’t start tucking branches until recently but I think it will be good. I really like that I can sit in a chair and trim under the net as opposed to getting on my knees, my knees cant take it anymore. It has started to stretch a little since I flipped the lights but I have room vertically as long as the colas don’t get much more than a foot long.

The last picture is the root ball from one of the plants in the RDWC. The lighting is a little off but they are pure white with a little nute stain right where they come out of the net basket. That is a 5 gallon buck under the roots to catch the water and the root ball will not fit in that bucket. It was a challenge to get them back in the 13 gallon tote. Changed the res in both systems today so they are good to go for 2 more weeks.

That flood table is great and I love the idea of pulling a chair up for training. I can't handle the crawling around much anymore. Hey, have you measured how many pounds of roots you're getting per watt? Just wow!

I love SCROGing but my knees cant take the kneeling and my shoulder dont care for the reaching back. Getting old maybe a state of mind mentally but the body is a solid reminder.
I think the roots out weigh foliage right now, the good new is I rarely pull ...  more

Dang that is a monster root ball!!! And that’s not even at harvest yet plant? Or that is a plant that you harvested?? And sounds like a pretty cool setup!! Looks like the leaves are wet did you foliar feed them?

Thanks I need to figure out something to do with them after the harvest, Maybe just compost but they are full of chemicals so it wouldn't be organic, hmm is a vicious cycle
Yes I do a foliar a couple of times a week in veg, then stop when I see pistils. T...  more

Awww yes just like nature intended lol!! I haven’t really done much foliar... maybe I should give it a whack!!! And ya I bet ya it would break down pretty quick in the dirt outdoors and would be cool to reuse them nutrients in a outdoor compost

Big roots; big fruits, lol! I have some 11-S going right now and they are very pretty plants. For my deal, I'll put them in 12/12 until they show them back under t5s 24 on until I put them outside. A good male will get to do some breeding. You got it going on...thanks for the share!

These roots are bigger now than the auto roots ever got and I thought those were huge.
I flipped the cuttings and rooted them under 12/12 and then flipped back. Now I am using CS on 2 of the cuttings, I will pull them out and flip them back to 12/12 to g...  more

I will trim the roots on the bonsai so they dot get to tangled but its not a normal procedure for me. I have read that trimmed root split at the cut so you can get double the root ball but I need to leave some room for water. lol

Thanks, the table is kind of fun, its a great test area for different strains, nutrients etc. between it and the tall totes in the RDWC I dont have to bend so much.
