How's my ph/everything else?

by Tsumi about April 9 - report

So funny story, I get a lot people saying I need to start phing my stuff. My usual response is that I don't have the money to buy it due to various reasons. It turns out though that we already had some. We have betta fishes and my fiance got some to help make sure their water was fine. Lol So important shit here I decided to use 3 strips and test the three areas I thought would be important. The water before adding feed, the water after adding feed and the runoff from my pots. What yall think?

Before Feed: PH 8, Nitrate 20PPM, Nitrite 0PPM, Alkalinity 140PPM, Hardness 200-220PPM

After Feed: PH 7, Nitrate 200PPM, Nitrite 0.7PPM, Alkalinity 150PPM, Hardness 300-350PPM

Runoff: PH 6.8, Nitrate 250-350PPM, Nitrite 3PPM, Alkalinity 160PPM, Hardness 250-300PPM

I use those strips to ph my water. IMO your ph is to high. I ph down to about 6.5 and I have had great results. I ph after I add nutrients. All the rest of the information I never really worry about.

Okay well at least it isn't the worst I guess. I didn't know if any of the other info would be useful.

As far as PH is concerned, if it's going in at PH 7 with nutes, and coming out at PH 6.8 you're lookin at a media PH around 6.6 PH which is on the top end of the PH chart for weed . You need to get it down to 6.0-5.8 PH.by adding an acid. If you don't have an acid, lemon juice will work too. The hardness is the measurement of the level of calcium and magnesium bicarbonates in your water. 300 ppm's is gettin up there...are you on a well ? Happy growin

T, General adjusting for PH down using ( lemon juice ) 1 tablespoon /gal, and vinegar would be the same. Add the PH down last to your nutrient solution, then test PH before you water plants, and make any other adjustments (more well water or more PH down)...  more

They will be able to use the Calmag, nitrogen, zinc, and magnesium better. It should help a lot.

Yea. I would also drop it to 6.5 myself. I have heard you can use some lemon juice if you have no Ph down. Might want to ask about that a little before using it.

Just add a little at a time. You don’t want to drop it too low and then have to find a way to raise it.

I know man I plan to use the lemon juice for now, chubbs said to use a tablespoon per gallon and dial it in but it only works for about 24hrs so I don't know how much good it can do.

Really all you need to ph if you have no issues is the nutrient mix or water before you give it to your plants. You should use a ph of 6.5 with a soil grow imo. You should only need to use one strip as well, so you can save on strips like this as well. Good luck.  Peace

I got you, I only did the three cause I wasn't sure of what was needed. I have to push it down about .5ph apparently. I figured I would put it in the water.

Same here, I only did ph because of how many people got onto me about not phing. I don't usually have the smaller things like ph strips or any kind of meters I just pop them in and grow them to be honest.
