Lux 1000w super HPS Solved

by Tomwel187 about March 26 - report

Hey so I’m wondering I have my lights at 30 inches from the middle of the Top of the canopy. And one light is putting out 35k one at 31k and one at 40k all from 30 inches exactly .... does this mean that some of my bulbs are weaker than the others? Should I move the lights a little bit closer? On GWE it says minimum lux for flowering you want is 35k and a good lux is 60k.What’s you guys thoughts on this? The last picture is my SOG putting into flower tonight. 12 little plants tallest one is only 13 inches tall right now

How many grows do you have on your bulbs? I get new ones after three grows, basically once a year...and get an extra MH and HPS...shit happens and they break, or fail. And you don't want to scramble to get back up and running at peak performance...I don't use a lux meter, that is for you techie growers...I use fresh bulbs and turn and rotate my plants daily...it works... :)

No...just finish this grow, and switch out ALL at the same time...are you using MH for veg? If not you should...probably running 2 for veg will give you enough coverage...IF YOU RUN THEM 1000 WATTS FROM week 3...tried and true beats out someone else's cr...  more

Dammmmnnnn 40+ years ??? That’s insane!!! I didn’t know you hit it for that long!!! That’s awesome and I had a MH light in the veg room going and T-5s for seedlings/clones.... but then the heat was getting close to 90 degrees every day while the wattage w...  more

And so I bought that big badass T-5 fixture that’s 4ft 8 bulb fixture that does pretty well.... and it’s a lot cooler temperature wise than the MH but can’t fit nearly as many plants under it maybe 15 smaller sized plants in 2 gallon grow bags.... but tha...  more

That much of a temp problem, you need a dedicated intake/exhaust line...fresh air from outside to nearest aircooled light hood, connected inline to exhaust going directly outside...if your lights aren't truly airtight, you should put in an inline filter/ ...  more

Idaggrow is right you should change out your lights once a year. That was one of the reasons I went to LED way less heat to deal with and no bulbs to buy I also found that LED work great for indoor growing just don't buy cheap ones you get what you pay for

Yes it would be nice to not have to replace bulbs that’s for sure but $65 a bulb isn’t to bad compared to buying a 1000 led fixture

Either your bulbs are getting used or your lux meter is playing tricks on you. I doubt any brand new bulbs would be the same all the way across your canopy but I wouldn’t think it would be that much difference. I also replace my bulbs after 3 grows. Good luck and happy growing my friend!!

Still learning and definitely going to start labeling when I put them in and keep track how long I use them for
