When to top

by jacweed22 about March 23 - report

Quick question. Looking at the picture of this GSC auto 15 days old from seed breaking ground, when would be the best time to top? I believe that is the 4th node starting to peek out of the top. Any advice would be appreciated.

I'd say you're thinking about right. 3rd, 4th, 5th node usually works good. Think about what you want in the way of side branching because each side branch is like an individual plant. I figure there is a ton of info on you tube, growweedeasy, etc. I like to top according to how the plant is growing and how I want it to look going forward. Good luck!

I am not a big auto grower but with the autos I have grown I top super early as compared to a photo because of their short veg time. When that 4 node is developed enough to clip I would do it. This gives the plant more recovery time before flowering. It has worked well for me and I hope this helps.

Generally with a photo I will wait for the 6th node to fully develop before topping.

Just pinch off that top cluster but be careful not to damage the 2 new shoots. If you're going to do it now's the time.

looks very healthy! tons of credit to you!! i cant saycause i sont ddo autos but if it were a poto i would top anytime past a 3rd node. but i would consider FIMming. and the reaso i say that is it takes less time off the plants vegetazion. youre just pinching the tip of the beginning sprout.! same thing!! research it in GWE if youre not familiar

You could micro top and won't even need a pait of scissors. I prefer microtopping over just topping because it don't take the plant as long to recover. I have never topped an auto but in the challange I saw a lot of people did and the plants reacted just fine. Good luck and happy growing my friend!

I usually wait on mine until they are about 6 true nodes in I think on this one it is really personal preference and what your wanting to do

How'd you like that Big Bud...been wondering if it's as good as it used to be...maybe if I can grow again, I'll get some from the White Castle(Sensi)...their genetics go back quite always on alot of their strains. You must have had a hangnail to come out ...  more

I like to wait till they are a bit older that way side branches can pretty much support themselves when budded up. I like those bags your growing in with handles lower on the bag. What brand? Good lookin plant.
