Northern Lights Auto or not? Solved

by Arthur about October 16 - report

Hi guys, I was thinking I grow 2 NL autos ordered from Nirvana, however 2 of my plants look very different. I have compared some images of NL autos and other strains and figured out my plants look nothing like the Niravana pics of NL autos. One of my plant rather looks like AK-47 and the other one I am not sure. Both of my plants are on the 9th week now. So I guess 2-3 more weeks left till the harvest? Please have a look and let me know your thoughts what plants are they.

I think the general consensus is to harvest when your trichomes have turned from clear to cloudy/milky with some amber around 90%/ %10. More amber will give you a more narcotic effect so it depends on what you prefer. I think its better to go by what the plant is telling us instead of what the seed companies say.

Hi Arthur, It's really tough to tell a strain by looking at pictures because every strain has different phenos (different varieties if the same strain).

Plants look good but they are still pretty early in the flower stage. All the white pistils will turn brown/red and shrivel back into the buds, then you have to start checking the triochomes with a loupe of microscope. I'd say you have another 4-6 weeks to go, IMO.

Hi bill59, thank you. The plants are flowering the 5th week and were planted on 16th August. See my calendar - https://www.weedportal.com/public/question/e5/d3/05/5c917_5bf8.jpg
On Nirvana website it said its 10-11 weeks from seeding to harvest. I am not ...  more

In my experience, most hybrids take about 10 weeks from start of flower to fully mature but you're results may vary by a week or two. Update us every week or two and you'll get some opinions to help you choose the right harvest time.

Nice plants Arthur! But looking at your pictures, I would say they are some type of Sativa strain! But I can't tell if they are NL's or if they are AK. But you are right you still have about 3 weeks till they will be ready for harvest.

hey Arthur! Careful what you wish for, right? As the guys above said, its hard to tell one strain from another by picture but i do agree that the leaf is long and skinny like a Sativa instead of fat and stout like an Indica. guessing by your white pistils sticking straight up, id say at 3-4 weeks. If you dont own a LED 30x 60x eye loupe now would be the time to order one so you can check out your trichomes so you can make the call on when to harvest.

    nice work Arthur!

Plants look good but you can expect them to go approx. 12 wks from seedling. You are apt to have different looks in strains. I think some of it is different lighting and the way the plant stretches.

It is what it is...at least they all flipped! ...the thing is...I barely see any trichomes...and they should be having more at this stage...maybe, hopefully, it's just the pictures

I've grown NL autos from nirvana twice. First round of plants looked more indica than the second batch I grew. 10 weeks on some 12 weeks on others. There is still a lot of viables in the genetics of those autos. Some short, some grew fluffy buds. Some were dwarf. But you will love the spice taste. I grew AK autos also, they look nothing like it to me. Looks good though, good job.
